Digitally accurate and fully programmed, SRD-Series open-casting systems utilize state-of-the-art PLCs and servomotor-controlled rotary gear metering pumps. Optionally, mechanical flowmeters or Coriolis mass flowmeters are included for automatic, closed loop-feedback ratio control and correction. You enter digital presets at the menu-driven touchscreen to make process control recipes. Digital presets include your required ratio, shot-size, output rate, temperatures, vacuum in the tanks and mixer-speed. Hundreds of numbered process control recipes can be saved and selected to run all of your cast parts.
SRD open-casting systems meter, mix and dispense cast urethane elastomers, epoxies, polyesters and vinyl esters, among other multiple-component resin formulations. Open cast pours are made with the pour tube positioned above the open-top mold. Open cast products include golf balls, wind turbine blades, wheels of all types, paper-making rolls, hydro cyclones, cast current transformers and sonar-absorbing submarine hull coatings.
Each of the positive-displacement rotary gear pumps on the SRD-Series system is of the highest quality available and each is driven with an independent, digitally-controlled servomotor drive. Metering pump sizes are selected and installed to match your required ratio range and mixed-material output requirements.
When the footswitch is depressed, the servomotors turn the rotary pumps, displacing on-ratio streams of the component materials through the mixer and into the open mold. Various system configurations provide outputs from 1 to 50 lbs/min and more. Ratios can range from 1:1 to 1:200. Two, three and four-component systems are standard and automatic color metering is available.
Heated and agitated degassing tanks feed the materials under constant positive pressure to the precision metering pumps. This air-bubble-free positive material pressure from the tanks is created by 1) dry nitrogen over-pressure on the degassing tanks or 2) by rotary (or piston-type) feed pumps mounted below our constant-vacuum thin-film resin degassers. These feed pumps eliminate the need for dry nitrogen over-pressure on the surface of the resin material.
Continuous component recirculation is optionally provided at the mixer injectors to keep the materials in constant motion; continuously diverting the independent on-ratio streams of material back to their respective material supply tanks when the machine is not pouring parts. Ratio-taking ports are provided at the mixer for manually checking ratio.
All heated compartments for the pumps and the mixer have removable slide-out panels for easy access to all system components. Heaters are ceramic-enclosed infrared type, which allow the system to be more easily modified at a later date to include third and fourth components.
SolidWorks 3D advanced modeling software is used to design all of our SRD-Series open-casting systems. We work closely with our customers to provide them with the very best SRD system configuration for their application.
