ECS-Series Servomotor-Controlled,
Piston Pump Meter/Mix/Dispense Systems
These systems are specifically designed to degas, meter, mix and
dispense abrasive-filled and unfilled, multiple-component resin
formulations. They handle epoxy, cast urethane, nylon and polyester
materials. Typical applications include open casting, open potting and
encapsulating, encapsulation of high-voltage ignition coils inside vacuum
chambers, RTM (and/or VARTM) resin injection of advanced composite
parts and complete coveyorized systems with mold identification, transfer
conveyors and servo-driven X-Y-Z Axis (multiple) pour nozzle positioning.
Extremely accurate and fully programmable, ECS-Series Piston Pump
Systems include state-of-the-art PLCs, accurate temperature control
from room-temperature to 500oF, digital servomotor-control and
coriolis mass flowmeters for closed-loop ratio and flow control.

You can easily select your pour recipes by name or number at the LCD or
PC-based operator-interface touchscreen. Setting digital presets for recipes,
including ratio, shot-size, output-rate, metering pump and mixer temperatures,
plus mixer-speed, can be made at the touchscreen in seconds. The operator-
interface is menu-driven for easy operation.
ECS-Series systems optionally include in-line pressure sensors and precise
volume flow control for critical RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) applications.
In the mold, mixed material flow through the preform is monitored and accurately
controlled to produce virtually void-free RTM composite parts. Output
pressures to 600 PSI can be utilized to penetrate the preform and optionally,
metered and mixed material temperature control to 500oF is available.
Similarly, mixed material output pressures at the mixer can be controlled at very
low injection pressures for low-pressure RTM and VARTM (Vacuum-Assisted Resin
Transfer Molding) applications.
SolidWorks 3D advanced assembly modeling software is used to design all of our
metering, mixing and dispensing systems, including these ECS-Series systems.

Blind-Rod Piston Pumps
Our Blind-Rod pumps include automatic rod-seal lubrication, which flushes filler particles from the rod before wear and abrasion occur on critical seal components, even when processing abrasive aluminum-oxide, silica-sand and glass-type fillers. This means less maintenance and more high-quality mixed material output. Various pump sizes match any ratio and output requirement. Supply tanks can mount on the (top) inlet side of the pump or they can be floor- mounted with feed lines to the pump.

Linear Digital Servomotor Drives
Linear servomotors drive the metering pumps’ piston rods. Digital servomotor-control offers precise and instantaneous linear movement of multiple piston rods to maintain ratio accuracy and repeatable piston movement at ±0.02%. Electronically, these high-torque servomotors, servomotor-amplifiers and the PLC-controller maintain ratio, while output speeds ramp up and down. This insures that the physical properties of your finished parts are precisely maintained.

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or PC Control
Process variables and presets you enter at the operator-interface are stored as recipes in the PLC (or optional Flat Panel IBM-PC.) When a pour is initiated, that part’s recipe instructions are passed on to the servomotor amplifiers, which precisely control linear movement of the servomotor drives and the pistons. Ratio, shot-size, output-rate, mixer-speed (unless you require disposable static mixers) and other process variables for each part are controlled via saved recipes in the PLC or PC.

Straight and Curved-Tube Coriolis Mass Flowmeters
The positive-displacement piston pumps included with our ECS-Series systems provide extreme accuracy and long service-life, even when processing abrasive-filled materials. These pumps are driven by independent servomotors, which are electronically (i.e., digitally) linked. This insures extremely accurate piston pump position and speed control. Truly precise ratio control, however, needs to rely and respond to continuous and near perfect measurement of the actual mass flow from each metering pump to the mixer. Our optional mass flowmeters, installed at each metering pump, provide the very best available continuous, closed-loop feedback, ratio correction and control.
