Quik-Melt Model #110 (small) & Model #230 (large) Adjustable Liquid Level Probe Liquid Level Control
Hopper & Pyramid Assembly - mounts inside the collector MOCA Melter Hopper and Pyramid Assembly

QUIK-MELT® Models #110 & #230
MOCA Melters - for solid curatives

Melt MOCA and other pelletized or granulated "hot-melt"
curatives on-demand.  By melting only as much as you
need for each run of parts, these Quik-Melt Moca Melters
eliminate material discoloration and degradation.

Quik-Melt® MOCA Melter - Benefits:

  • Specifically designed to melt MOCA,  these melters supply large quantities of clear light-yellow-colored melted MOCA on-demand.  There is no need to wait for a full batch to melt out.

  • Minimize operator contact.  Both the solid and the melted MOCA are contained inside a closed vacuum/pressure vessel, which keeps fumes from escaping. You can also transfer solid pellets into the Hopper and Pyramid Assembly via one of our optional Vacuum Transfer Systems.

  • Set the Liquid Level Control Arm to automatically maintain your required preset level of freshly melted MOCA.  At the minimum setting, you can melt only as much as you need for each pour to minimize degradation.  Leaving very little to freeze, you insure fast next-day start-up.

  • A capacitance probe through the lid of the MOCA melter detects a low level of pellets in the Hopper.  An alarm signals the operator to add more pellets.

Description/Operation:

  • A standard 5-gallon batch tank requires about six hours to melt a 50-pound batch of solid MOCA pellets.  The Quik-Melt Model #230 Melter delivers up to two-pounds of melted MOCA per minute, on-demand.  The Model #110 Melter delivers up to 9-ounces per minute.
  • Load the hopper on the Model #110 Melter with 40-pounds of pellets.  The larger hopper in the Model #230 Melter holds up to 225-pounds of pellets.  You can fill a Quik-Melt hopper manually or open two valves on the tank lid and draw solid MOCA into the hopper at rates of up to 50 lbs/min with our optional Vacuum Transfer System.  (Ask for details.)
  • Turn on the lower collector portion of the MOCA melter to heat and maintain it's temperature at the melt-index of your hot-melt material (Max. 300oF.)  Preset the Liquid Level Control to maintain a set amount of  melted material in the collector.  Up to 80 pounds of melted MOCA can be held in-storage in the Model #230 Melter collector.  The smaller Model #110 Melter collector can hold up to 25 pounds, melted.
  • Now turn on the pyramid heaters.  MOCA in the hopper rests on the heated and temperature-controlled (max. 300oF) pyramid.  As the melt-index of the MOCA is reached, MOCA melts and runs through gaps at the base of the pyramid, into the collector below.  The pyramid heaters remain on until the level probe contacts the melted MOCA.
  • When connected to an automatic meter/mix/dispense system, the Quik-Melt MOCA Melter operates without operator attention until the capacitance probe signals the operator to add more material into the hopper.  With the larger Model #230 MOCA Melter, the big (225 lb.) hopper often lets the operator make only one or two transfers per week, which minimizes run-time interruptions and time spent transferring MOCA.
