CDM-Series, Common Drive,
Continuous Rotary Pump
Metering & Mixing Systems

CDM-Series Metering, Mixing and Dispensing Machines include
two precision rotary gear pumps and a common DC motor drive.
Preselected pump drive gears are matched to provide accurate ratio.
A simple, affordable solution for urethane casting applications that
demand continuous flow, easy operation, minimum maintenance and
few machine setup or formulation changes.

Curative Melters and Batch Resin Degassing Tanks are used to supply
heated, agitated and degassed material to this CDM machine's precision
rotary gear pumps. Driven by a common DC motor, the rotary pumps
meter two-components on-ratio to the variable-speed (or single-speed)
Dynamic Mixer.  Integrated closed-loop speed control maintains flow rates
at preset speeds to .01% accuracy. The operator can preset total, mixed-
material, volume displacement.  APT's Continuous Thin-Film Prepolymer
Degassers and Quik-Melt Curative Melters can be connected to this CDM-
Series system.

These CDM-Series systems provide accurate and repeatable system performance with
no unnecessary sophistication, plus, they are affordable and dependable.  Driven by a
common rotary drive, the gear pumps on these systems are specifically designed to
handle unfilled cast urethane, epoxy, polyester and cast nylon formulations.  They are
also used in open-casting, VARTM (Vacuum-Assisted RTM) and closed-mold RTM resin
injection applications.

Metering pump sizes are selected to match your ratio and output requirements.  Accurate
ratio settings are made by selecting the proper gear size for the B component pump.
When the footswitch is depressed, the DC-motor drive turns, displacing on-ratio streams
of A and B component materials to the static (motionless) or dynamic (motor-driven) mixer.
(Outputs: 1 to 15 lbs/min)  (Ratios: 1:1 to 15:100)

Constant positive material feed pressure from the tanks feeds material to both pumps.  This
material pressure from the tanks is created by nitrogen over-pressure or mechanical feed
pumps, which are submerged in the material or mounted under the tanks.

All heated compartments for the pumps and the mixer are made of removable slide-out panels.
Heaters are ceramic-enclosed infrared type.  Component injectors and ratio-taking ports are
located at the mixer.

Main Control Console
Preset process controls for the mixed material output rate and total
output per part are entered at the main console.  Independent
temperature presets for the metering pump compartments and mixer
compartment are made at the temperature control console.

Rotary Gear (Continuous) Pumps
Positive displacement rotary gear pumps are selected to match the
ratio and output requirements of each application.  If the ratio needs
some slight adjustment, the gear on the hardener or curative pump, which
is driven by the common drive gear, is switched with a larger or smaller
gear.  These pumps supply uninterrupted and precisely metered flow to
the mix head.

Common Variable Speed Drives
The DC-motor drive is common to both of the metering pumps.   As this
drive turns, the materials are metered on-ratio to the static or dynamic
motor-driven mixer.  Output speed can be adjusted and preset at the
control panel along with total volume displacement per each molded part.
